Communication Manager Messaging uses information from the Communication Manager software to answer telephone calls, and also sends information back to the Communication Manager software. Depending on the information received, the messaging software plays a greeting, provides an automated attendant, permits a subscriber to retrieve messages, or directs unanswered incoming telephone calls to the correct mailbox.
Processor is shared between Communication Manager Messaging and Communication Manager as they reside on the same server. Now, the messaging software connects to the Communication Manager software by means of H.323 / Q.Sig protocol.
The logic of voice ports, remains the same. This logic means that a messaging hunt group must still be defined with 4 or 8 virtual voice ports and extension numbers. Other switch adminstration tasks that are associated with proper hunt group functions, such as creating COR, COS, and coverage paths, are also required. The Communication Manager server and messaging software applications send control messages to each other by means of H.323 / Q.Sig protocol over an IP Trunk. Communication Manager Messgaing provides 80 messaging voice ports and supports up to 5,000 mailboxes.
