Communication Manager Messaging provides two distinct Service Provider Interfaces (SPI) for switch integration.
Telephony. The Telephony SPI provides an interface to the switch integration module to set switch/PBX specific interface parameters, such as call progress tone detection and DTMF on/off timing. The following are some of the capabilities that are supported:
Ability to tune Call Progress Tones (CPTs) through the user interface
Ability to capture and analyze CPTs through the user interface
Selection of country and PBX/switch through the user interface
Capabilities to administer Tip/Ring parameter through the user interface
Specification of transfer sequences through the user interface.
Ability to link call data interface administration pages to provide uniform interface
Ability to support pluggable (predefined) parameter modules for various countries and switches
Call Data. The Call Data SPI provides the switch integration module an interface with which to pass call information to the application through irSWIN Application Programming Interface (API). The Call Data Interface (CDI) modules for Serial and Inband integration support the following capabilities:
Administration for dial plan translations. This feature performs validation of incoming data based on the administered dial plan ranges. It performs number translations based on the administered prefixes for the incoming calls as well as it transfers and validates translations based on the message server's extension length.
Administration for attendant identification and hunt group translations for the required switches.
Call information log that is accessed through the user interface.
Administration of Message Waiting Indicator (MWI) parameters.
Ability to specify routing of MWI update requests to an interface port or a group of interface ports based on the Messaging Switch Number field. This capability enables MWI updates through dedicated ports when required by certain switches.
Ability to administer interface specific parameters through the user interface.
A fully integrated switch can access the following features of the voice messaging system:
Call answer
Call answer allows subscribers to:
FAX messaging
Voice or multimedia mail
Voice mail services allow subscribers to:
Message waiting indication
A message waiting indicator (MWI) is typically in the form of a lamp on a subscriber's telephone that lights to indicate the presence of a message. It can also be a message on a display set.
Bulletin board service
Bulletin board service allows you to record a message. A caller who reaches a bulletin board listens to this message and is then disconnected.
Automated attendant
An automated attendant directs callers through a series of menu selections to reach a desired compartment, extension, or attendant.
