Avaya Web Messaging is a browser-based client application that provides subscribers with a graphical user interface (GUI) for their mailboxes. It is one of the Unified Communication Center's (UCC) suite of applications. This separately purchased software is installed on your system by Avaya Professional Services.
Web Messaging allows subscribers to:
Access their mailbox over the Internet from a compatible Web browser.
Create and play back voice messages by using a telephone connection or sound card on the desktop.
Retrieve multimedia messages from the messaging server.
Address messages from lists stored on the messaging server.
Administer lists stored on the messaging server.
Create and administer personal greetings and system options, such as an outcalling phone number.
Gain remote access to their mailboxes and work with messages that use the following supported PDA devices: Compaq iPAQ, Blackberry RIM, and Palm.
Web Messaging is located on a separate Windows 2000 server. This Windows 2000 server contains a Web application that communicates to the messaging software and client workstation through a browser.
Web Messaging recommends a trusted server configuration for allowing the Windows 2000 server to raise an alarm on the messaging software when there are problems. The setup instructions require the IP address to be configured with the trusted server.
For more information on Web Messaging, see the documentation that is available with the application.
